It is with great sadness that Eagle Transport announces the passing of Eagle Past President John Thomas. Thomas served as President from 1985 until 2001, and during his tenure, Eagle enjoyed tremendous growth and success, entering many new markets and business segments.
While a firm believer in processes, budgets, and solid operations, John will also be remembered as a compassionate leader known for his professionalism and consistent leadership style. Even though John has been retired from Eagle for 20 years, his legacy continues to be ever-present in our organization today. Although many of us may not have had the opportunity to work directly with John, we have benefited from those who have and enjoy the firm foundation he laid during his years of dedicated service. Our company and industry have lost a great leader, but his lasting impact will live on.
All of us at Eagle would like to express our deepest condolences to John’s wife, June, son Ron Thomas, Past VP of Human Resources, and the entire Thomas family. We pray for God’s continued comfort and sustaining grace for you all during this difficult time.
A Funeral Service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 1130 North Winstead Ave, Rocky Mount, NC, with Pastor Luke Lunceford officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service, under the care of Akins-Cobb Funerals & Cremations – 7871 Blue Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge, GA 30513, will be held at Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens in Blue Ridge, GA, on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 2 PM.
