COMMITTED TO COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Eddie Fund

Started in late 2002, the Eddie Fund is an employee-driven effort within Eagle Transport that strives to positively impact lives within the company and the community through fund-raising projects, gifts, donations, and pledges. Named after Eddie Evans, a wonderful and caring Eagle employee that left us far too young, the Eddie Fund attempts to keep this caring spirit alive to help those less fortunate.

The Fund’s focus is on the “common good,” whether it be company outreach for an Eagle employee going through a tough time with illness or loss, or a local or community organization in eastern North Carolina. Some of this outreach is in support of local branches of national organizations, such as the:

  • Salvation Army, including Christmas Angel Tree & Stocking Campaigns

  • American Red Cross,

  • Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,

  • American Cancer Society, and

  • Operation American Soldier

We’ve also helped with many local organizations, such as:

  • My Sister's House, a battered women’s shelter

  • The Free Will Baptist Children’s Home

  • The Wright’s Center, an adult day health center for seniors and disabled adults

  • A local elementary school that has many “at-risk” kids

  • “Fountains of Hope” outreach, that creates “Backpack Buddies” for the school

All of these organizations either use the full donations or nearly all of the donated funds in their good works. The Fund is very selective about the groups we support, and we screen their administrative cost structures carefully to make sure most or all the money is being used to meet the needs of the group they are helping.
