Payroll Administrator

We are looking for a proficient payroll administrator to assist and/or lead in the weekly processing of payroll. The payroll administrator will be responsible for maintaining employee data with strict confidentiality. This position is an onsite position.


To be successful as a payroll administrator, you must have strong numeracy skills and be able to multitask effectively. Ultimately, an outstanding payroll administrator should be able to manage all aspects of payroll in a timely and accurate manner.


Essential Functions:

  • Process payroll, payroll audits, and all employee profile changes including, but not limited to: transfers, promotions, demotions, wage changes, job changes, terminations, and new hires.

  • Assists with processing, accuracy, and distribution of weekly payroll.

  • Demonstrates general knowledge of payroll labor laws.

  • Provide information and answer employee questions about payroll-related matters.

  • Completes various reports such as, but not limited to, BLS and Multiple Worksite Reports.

  • Positive, professional, and accurate written and verbal communication with employees and management at all levels.

  • Provides assistance to auditors (internal and external) by providing reports and answering questions as needed.

  • Performs various tasks and projects as needed within the HR and Payroll department, such as, but not limited to, Verification of Employment, Wage Garnishments, and internal self-audits.

  • Assist New Hires with onboarding

  • Maintain and audit Driver Training records and update Excel spreadsheet (both in how it relates to payroll and their final day certification)

  • Assist our terminals in distributing “Assessment Profiles” as requested

  • This position will also assist with switchboard rotation coverage – about 1.5 hours every other week.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Three-plus years in a Payroll Office performing all payroll functions

  • Excellent skills using Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office Suite products

  • Familiarity with Teams is a plus

  • Strong skills in using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll system

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion

  • Excellent problem-solving/judgment skills, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to recognize issues and take the initiative to propose solutions

  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and under pressure

  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of an electronic payroll/HRIS system (we use Paycom)
